The Barber and the Smith are twins and the only prosperous inhabitants of the wretched town of Machine. The Barber extracts the bullets from wounded gunslingers and the Smith then uses the lead to cast new bullets for sale.

Spider and Coyote are mysterious hermits of no known tribe roaming the woods around Machine. They are rumored to have been seen shapeshifting in the dark, but older locals dismiss those stories as tricks the dusk light plays on weary travelers.

The Judge is an ancient being that subsists on fear, so he became the self-appointed judge, jury and executioner of Machine. He's the one who brought to life the Jailer - a torture device once used by conquistadors to extract the whereabouts of El Dorado.

Fire and Thunder were executed for crimes they did not commit. They are now vengeful spirits, demons of tar and gunpowder making their way towards the town of Machine for a showdown with the Judge - the avatar of self-appointed law that murdered them.

The Widow and the Widower are gunslinger vigilante lovers. Jealous, the Judge cursed each to become convinced their loved one had been murdered, to never again recognize each other and spend the rest of their lives in a quest of unattainable revenge.
